Agua Amarga - 3.10.11 Di's birthday

View from the village square

Having coffee, coke and chips (healthy diet)

Street scenes

The beach at Agua Amarga (our campspot was down the far end in a bit).

Dates maturing on the tree

Pimentoes drying in the sun

Fruit from a prickly pear (cactus) we all tried a bit didn't (seem to be hallucinogenic). Not much flavour maybe very delicate persimmon (?sp)

The beginning of our walk, up an old wall from Agua Amarga.

"Handiman's dream" house up above Agua Amarga.

Faro (lighthouse) Roldan

At the summit of the hill "Roldan Massa" - the area has been mined for metals in the past (possibly iron as the sand is very black in places) but also i have read some of this area had silver deposits which were also mined. In the background is Mojacar a Moorish style town which has been heavily developed and now has many large holiday resorts, but the original town up in the hills looks to be pretty.

View from cliff top

Large "thing". Not exactly sure what it is but you see them dotted over the cliffs above the sea. This one was from the 18th century?? some sort of watch tower I imagine.

Looking back across the tundra to the hill with the light house, in the late afternoon sunlight.
