Yorkshire: A Day in Haworth
It was cold and wet today, I optimistically wore my sunnies (for about 50 metres) the only sun of the day. Our day started early well the adults any way. Hilary was very difficult to get any action out of at all. Water was running down the road outside the parking lot, a burst water main. The men in the H2O van arrived at about 7am to fix it, but had to wait for some traffic lights to arrive. They sat in the freezing cold eating their muesli, so we gave them a hot cup of tea, which I’m sure would have cheered their souls.
We had arranged to meet Jude for the day, at about 10am. We were late due to Hilary’s reluctance to move from her sleeping bag. But we picked Jude up and then drove up the small steep country roads towards Keighly and Haworth. Beautiful scenery again, all the hues of green, and little paddocks divided by stone walls.
We parked at the designated area for visitors and walked along the little path to the village. We had a quick look around and then headed up to the Museum shop as we had heard it was possible to get 2 for 1 deals on entrance to the Parsonage. We were lucky, some had just become available which saved us £10 or so.
We had a good poke around at the parsonage/museum learning a bit more about the Brontes and checking out their house.

We then had a coffee in a little cafĂ© and a look around the village. Very beautiful but very set up for the tourist as well. Lots of people visiting, but thankfully we went today and not tomorrow as there is a 1940’s day and the whole town is gearing up for that. They say it will be packed with people over the weekend. Not our thing at all.
We had lunch (turned into late afternoon tea really as it was nearly 4 by the time we finished). It had started raining again by then and we were all pretty tired, so though we had thought about going for a walk we all piked and went back to Jude’s for a cup of tea, to do some more washing, and to check e-mails. At that point I discovered my last post on the blog had disappeared??? It took many hours to compile and I don’t know where it could have gone. I know it was there at some stage because it told me it was posted successfully, and my big sister had a copy of one of the photos from it on an email. But where it is I don’t know? No sign anywhere on my page….. I hope it is out there somewhere because it was many days of info and the thought of redoing it exhausts me. I know after I posted it blogspot had a notice up saying they were having difficulties and that the site was unavailable. Do these things just disappear into cyberspace, or can some geek retrieve them from the ether? I can’t check it out as the pocket we are in won’t let me get internet access though I keep trying on the off chance it is intermittent. Will have to check tomorrow, add the photos to this posting from today and publish.
