Peniscola 10th-12th

Looking towards Peniscola by street light

Ogling the flash hotel

On the night of the 9th there was a very nearly full moon, we went for a walk down on the beach, the moonlight reflected on the sea was gorgeous, as were the lights down the beach and over Peniscola. There were many fishermen with rods cast over the beach into the black sea, you could just see them in the moon light, some with head lamps casting a stream of light and the tips of their rods glowing pink, blue or green depending on which light they had mounted.

On the 10th we had a cruisy day playing, swimming and doing not much else.

Sunday the 11th we went to the beach and Di and hilary built a NZ flavoured sand sculpture while i read and bathed (both sun and water).

In the late afternoon Hilary and I biked down to Peniscola to watch the locals taunting bulls in a temporary bull-ring. All the locals were very excited but it didn't do much for me, the bulls looked as if they couldn't really be bothered, half heartedly pawing at the ground and making runs at the young men who were flapping coloured cloths in front of them. It looked as though they thought they should play the part, but really couldn't be bothered. We left after about 3/4 of an hour, instead gathered up lollies which were thrown in a festive manner at the audience, before biking back to the truck.

Peniscola (the newer part)

On the 12th our last day in Peniscola I went for a bike ride into Peniscola to the library understanding they had free wifi, they didn't so I biked straight back in the increasing heat. Nice views though as i took a different route, vegetable gardens oozing with tomatoes, beans, ..... Later we all went  to Carrefour (supermarket) and tried to do the wifi thing at McDonalds. The only McDonalds in Spain which doesn't have wifi I think.
Last thing the others had a swim at the beach before we packed the truck up ready for a prompt getaway the next morning.
